Powdered rock that can capture carbon when spread on soils as been found in quantities that could fertilize every inch of agricultural land on the planet. There would be a fair bit of work to do before this solution lands on the ground in a big way.

The article is missing clues about the rock flour’s composition but does mention it has less capacity than basalt for capturing CO2, and the location creates a significant carbon impact for transportation to suitable fields.

The proof will be in the pudding once the scientists complete their analysis. Here’s to hoping we have another tool in the belt to capture as much carbon as fast as we can.
